5 Steps to Reverse Diabetes

The 2017 National Diabetes Statistics Report states that more than 30 million people in the U.S. have diabetes. That’s equivalent to almost 10% of U.S. population! Diabetes is the seventh leading cause of mortality rate in the U.S. alone, with over 250,000 deaths in 2015.

We’ve got some good news for you. Did you know that it is possible to prevent or reverse diabetes so that you can lead a more normal life? Whether you are prediabetic or currently grappling with it, you now have the option to take steps to reverse diabetes and its epidemic. Here’s how:

  1. Holistic Long-Term Approach

One of the main reasons for an increased incidence of acquiring diabetes is an inactive lifestyle.  A holistic, long-term approach combined with a modified diet and physical activity could help prevent or reverse this condition. In fact, a study found that test subjects who acquired type II diabetes underwent intensive lifestyle-based weight loss intervention or ILI had the higher chance of making partial diabetes remission as compared to test subjects who just got diabetes education thrice a year. The individuals who underwent ILI programs made the following changes:

  • Increased physical activity
  • Reduced total fat intake in general
  • Cut the calorie intake for up to 1800 kcal per day
  1. Glucose Control Diet

Finding a suitable diet is the key to a better glucose control in persons with diabetes and prediabetes. To avoid blood sugar level fluctuations, keep lipid levels in the right condition and to lose weight, you can try to follow these dietary approaches:

  • A Kapha-Balancing Ayurvedic Diet

Studies showed that the Ayurvedic principle helps improve the major symptoms of diabetes. People who use this approach has shown an incredible result in their diet and lifestyle modification. Examples of foods that contain Kapha-balancing Ayurvedic diet includes barley, bitter gourd, green gram, pointed gourd and cooked vegetables. Aside from these foods, you can also try to incorporate the following into your daily diet:

  • Bitter melon
  • Hot ginger tea
  • Foods rich in protein
  • Millet, corn or rye
  1. Diabetes Superfoods

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) suggests foods that help for a better glycemic control. These superfoods include the following:

  • Citrus
  • Beans
  • Berries
  • Green leafy vegetables
  • Fatty fish
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Whole grains
  1. Low Fat Vegan Diet

Did you know that cardiovascular problems are one of the leading causes of mortality among people with diabetes? Studies show that a low-fat vegan diet is beneficial to those who have cardiovascular problems as well as those who have higher lipid and glycemic control. To go for a low-vegan diet, here are simple rules to follow:

  • Cut any form of poultry, meat, fish, and dairy
  • Consume protein from plant-based and non-dairy sources such as nuts, beans, tofu, and seeds
  • Avoid refined carbohydrates and those that can raise triglyceride levels like foods rich in white flour or even processed foods
  • Fiber-rich foods and low-glycemic index foods such as legumes, fresh vegetables, fruits, and beans. These can also help improved lipid control.
  1. Homeopathic Remedies

Homeopathic medicine is the use of small amounts of natural substances like minerals and plants to help stimulate the healing process of the body. This type of remedy is especially recommended for people who have type II diabetes and is also found to be very useful for treating particular problems a diabetic person has to deal with. Here are some of the specific problems and its homeopathic remedy:

  • Plumbum (lead) – helps lessen numbness and hypersensitivity
  • Calendula (marigold) – for infected ulcers. Can be applied as a lotion or taken internally
  • Hemlock or conium – helps lessen numbness due to nerve damage
  • Sulfur, lycopodium or muriaticum (salt) – helps improve renal function and any severe kidney damage

How to Better Manage Diabetes

What is Diabetes?

Diabetes has 3 main types:  Type 1, Type 2 and Gestational diabetes.

  • Type 1 diabetes – persons who have type 1 diabetes means their body does not make insulin. Insulin is needed every day for a person to live. You need insulin to take the glucose or sugar from the foods you eat. This sugar will later turn into energy which your body needs for day to day work.

  • Type 2 diabetes – this is the most common type of diabetes. People who have type 2 diabetes means their body does not make or use enough insulin to support their body. People who acquire this type of diabetes take pills or insulin to control their diabetes.

  • Gestational diabetes – Pregnant women usually get this type of diabetes. Diabetes may go away after the baby is born. However, they may have greater chances of acquiring diabetes later in their lives even if it goes away after giving birth.

Managing Diabetes

Managing diabetes requires total awareness. It’s important to know what makes your blood sugar fall and rise and learn how to control several factors that affect your diabetes. Here are some of the actions you can take to manage your diabetes.

  • Be active

One of the most important parts of diabetes management plan is physical activity. Regular physical activities help the body use insulin more efficiently.  Exercising uses muscles to release glucose for energy. Insulin and physical activities work together to help lower the blood sugar level. Light activities at home such as gardening and household chores help improve blood sugar. Here are the steps to better manage your diabetes through exercise:

  • Talk to your doctor about your exercise plan
  • Stick to your exercise schedule
  • Check your blood sugar levels before exercising
  • Always stay hydrated
  • Adjust your diabetes treatment plan if needed

  • Eat Well
  • Choose foods that are low in saturated fats, calories, trans fat, salt, and sugar.
  • Foods rich in fiber such as pieces of bread, cereals, rice, pasta, or whole grain are also proven to help.
  • Drink water instead of soda or juice.
  • Know what to do every day
  • Always take your medications even when you feel good.
  • Ask your doctor if you need to take aspirin to prevent stroke or heart attack.
  • Always check your feet if there are red spots, blisters, cuts or welling. If there is, call your healthcare team immediately.
  • Keep your mouth, teeth, and gums healthy by brushing and flossing at least twice every day.
  • Stop or better yet, do not smoke.
  • Always check your blood sugar level. Check it at least twice each day.

Coping with Diabetes

Stress is one main factor that can raise your blood sugar. To lower stress, try some simple and effective activities such as gardening, deep breathing, meditating, taking a walk, listening to your favorite song or working on your own hobby.

If in case you’re feeling down, it is never wrong to seek professional help. You may ask advice from mental health counselor, a close friend or a family member who will always listen to you to help make you feel better.

Let Me Explain One of the Biggest Reasons Why Liberals Lose So Often

Republicans have dominated local and state elections all over the country, even in quite a few supposed “blue” areas. They have controlled Congress for the better part of the last quarter century. And liberals continue to lose. In fact, it seems as though they are doing everything in their power to ensure their losses are repeated in the future.

Over the past few years, it has become evident there are a number of reasons for their ridiculous losing. It seems as though they’re actually working at it. There were the false reports from liberals of Trump supporters hunting down various demographics of America. These reports were so ridiculous no one with a sane mind believed them, realizing that the liberals were simply lying through their teeth losing the trust of many of their previous followers. There were the riots used by leftists as a method of self-expression in recent years which has surely won many converts to the other side because no respectable member of society condones rioting. The continual calling of everyone who disagrees with them a racist has definitely left a bad taste in many people’s mouths. Apparently, much of America doesn’t actually like being called racist, so out they run.

Although the list above would be enough for the liberals to continue their march of self-destruction, that simply isn’t enough for them. The number one reason for their continued loss is their determination to remain self-indulgent toddlers. For example, respectable universities like Georgetown offered therapy for students distraught by the last presidential election. The University of Michigan Law School actually scheduled a post-election event with play time creating a bizarre, politicized preschool for pouting adults. They actually described the event as such:

The liberals are not going to win the working class back as long as they surmise that modern liberalism is an ideology that turns adults into those who must take naps and throw temper tantrums when they don’t get their way.

The average American adult simply can’t relate to this. Most American adults have kids and a mortgage and so have to get up every morning for a job to provide for their families. They work hard for what they make and work harder to stretch those dollars as far as they can. They simply don’t have time to express their emotions through play dough because a favorite candidate lost. Most American adults are choosing to be adults. Thus, the liberals have isolated themselves from average Americans because of their continual regression into pre-pubescence.

This reason alone is enough for most Americans to choose to look elsewhere for their representation in government. Seeing grown men and women behave like petulant toddlers is disturbing at best. Why should the average American entrust his representation to those who behave so ridiculously? Why should he trust them to make life-changing decisions for the greatest country in the world? Why should he trust them to run our country when they can’t control their emotions? He shouldn’t. So, he doesn’t.

10 Ways to Avoid Scams Online

By Christine Trimbur

There are thousands and thousands of new scams that pop up every year. There are so many that it is simply impossible to keep up with them all. But, if you remember these 10 simple things, you will avoid most scams out there which will protect you and your family.

1. Never send money to someone you haven’t met in person. Really don’t send any money if they ask for a wire transfer, a gift card, or a prepaid debit card as these can’t be traced and are treated like cash.

2. Never open attachments or click on links from unsolicited email. Links are often embedded with malware that will wreak havoc on your computer.

3. Seeing shouldn’t necessarily mean believing. Scammers are fantastic mimickers and put a lot of effort into being sure that fonts, seals, and other details are identical to the real thing. Even caller ID can be faked. Be sure to check it out.

4. Only buy online if the transaction is secure. Look for the “https” in the URL (the extra s means it’s “secure”) and the small lock icon in the website address bar. And for added security, use bbb.org to check the company out before purchasing anything. Read reviews to be sure you’re not getting cheap and/or counterfeit items.

5. Be very cautious when dealing with someone you met online. Scammers utilize dating websites, social media, Craigslist, and other sites to locate potential targets. They will quickly become your friend, but unfortunately, that is part of the scam in order to get you to trust them.

6. Don’t share personally identifiable information with unsolicited contacts. This includes phone calls, email, social media, and your front door. Be careful with your banking and credit card information, Social Security Number, and your birthdate.

7. Never feel that you have to act immediately. Scammers usually try to make you think that something is a limited time offer or is scarce. That want you to act before you have time to think or talk with a family member or financial advisor. It’s never a good idea to make important decisions quickly.

8. Use traceable, secure transactions when paying for services, goods, debts, and taxes. Never pay by prepaid money card, gift card, wire transfer, or other non-traditional payment method. Always decline cash-only deals, high upfront payments, overpayments, high pressure sales tactics, and handshake deals that don’t include a contract.

9. Use local businesses whenever possible. Check to be sure they have proper identification, licensing and insurance. This is especially important when using contractors who will be working in your home and anyone handling your money or sensitive information. Look them up at bbb.org to see what others have experienced.

10. Be careful with the information you share on social media. Consider connecting only with people you already know. Utilize security settings on all social media and online accounts. Scammers get a lot of information about their targets from online interactions and can then use that information to seem like a friend.
